From brainstorming to carving to rolling that ink – we’ve got you covered. Here is what it looks like working with Team Gilfalo:

STEP 1

Let's Connect

We start with a conversation, either by phone, email, direct messaging—whatever works best for you. This is where we get to know your vision and the unique story behind your project. We will go over all the details of the project and answer any questions you may have.

Once we’re aligned, have the logistics ironed out, and receive your down payment, we get down to the creative work.

STEP 2

Design Creation

If you already have ideas, great! If not, leave it up to us. We design custom art for your poster. Every detail is carefully considered to ensure it reflects your event perfectly. We always create a digital rendering that we use as our guide in the linocut process.

Then, you review and ensure it aligns with your vision before production begins. Because of the nature of the hand carving and inking process, the final product will never match exactly to the digital version… and we want it that way. These are one of a kind prints, created with carving tools, sweat and tears.

STEP 3

Production

We begin by transferring the design onto a piece of battleship-grey linoleum block using a precise template to ensure accuracy. We carve away the first layer of the design by hand, starting the intricate process of bringing your image to life.

Next, we print the first color of your poster on premium Stonehenge 90lb paper using our vintage 1961 Vandercook Universal 1 printing press, ensuring each print is rich in texture and quality. After printing the first color, we carefully carve away that layer on the block, reducing it to prepare for the next color. Each new color is printed over the previous one, building depth and detail layer by layer.

This process continues until the final image is complete, with every layer meticulously printed to create a stunning, multi-dimensional poster. Your prints are transferred to drying racks to cure. Once the prints are dry, we sign, stamp, and number each one according to the edition size you ordered, ensuring every piece is unique and collectible.

STEP 4

Sharing The Process

Throughout the process, we keep you in the loop by sharing photos and updates. These snapshots of craftsmanship make great content for social media or just a behind-the-scenes peek at your project.

STEP 5

Packaging With Care

Each order is carefully wrapped in kraft paper and packaged in a handcrafted custom box designed for safe shipping. We ship via USPS Priority Mail, ensuring they arrive quickly and securely. Once shipped, we send a final invoice for payment. If your event is local, we love to hand deliver! (We accept checks, PayPal, or Venmo, and we can provide a W9 if needed for your records.)
